Amos 3-6

All three chapters start with Hear

ch.3

v.1 – Amos includes judgment upon the Northern tribes

v.2 – God will punish Israel for all their iniquities

v.7 – God will not send judgement without warning people

v.12 –  Not much will be left of Israel once Assyria destroys them

v. 14 – Israel disregards the first two commandments

ch. 4

v.1- God talks to the women of Israel

v.2 – the rich women were oppressing the poor people

v.6-13 –  Amos shows all the judgement God had already done to Israel

v.12- are you prepared to meet God

ch.5

v.1- Take up a lamentation against Israel (a funeral song)

v.2 – Nobody will be able to help Israel

v.3 – about 90% of Israel was destroyed

v.6- God wants Israel’s heart to change

v.18 – Day of the Lord

v.19 –  You will not be able to flee from God’s judgement

v.21-22 – God hates sin

God will send a nation to judge Israel
